Tata Motors has announced the 2015 season of the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship. This second season of the truck race is scheduled to be held on March 15 at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
The race features 12 Tata Primas specifically built for track, wheeled by international drivers, representing six teams. The teams are Team Castrol Vecton, Team Cummins, Team Tata Technologies Motorsports, Team Dealer Warriors, Team Dealers Daredevils and Team Allied Partners.
The truck used for the race is the race-specced Prima 4038S. It has an 8.9-litre Cummins diesel engine, mated to an eight-speed gearbox, and makes 370bhp and 158kgm of torque. This season, Tata also claims that the race trucks have a more aerodynamic design, are 10 percent lighter and boast of 10 percent higher speed and faster acceleration.
The inaugural season last year saw Team Castrol Vecton take the win, followed by, Team Cummins and Team Tata Technologies Motor Sports.
The Tata T1 Prima Truck Racing is organised under the aegis of the FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) and the FMSCI (Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India).
