Homegrown automaker, Mahindra & Mahindra, has touched the 50 lakh units production milestone. The Mahindra Thar was the 50th lakh vehicle to be rolled out from the automaker’s manufacturing facility in Mumbai.
Acknowledging the milestone, Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group, said that this rollout of 50th lakh vehicle is an important milestone in the company's automotive journey over the past seven decades.
Commenting on the occasion, Pawan Goenka, Executive Director, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, “In our evolving journey to becoming India’s leading SUV manufacturer, we have pushed the boundaries and taken on new challenges at every step. I dedicate this achievement to each and every member of the Mahindra family.”
Mahindra’s Auto Sector had achieved the 40 lakh mark in 2012 and reached the 50 lakh vehicle mark in just two years, the company stated in its media release.
This milestone is a cumulative vehicle production figure drawn from all of the manufacturing units of the company – Chakan, Nashik, Haridwar, Zaheerabad, Kandivali and their engine manufacturing plant in Igatpuri.
