We have seen the DC Avanti being tested on the Mumbai-Poona Expressway on and off for a few months now and having followed the car for a long stretch doing well over triple digit speeds, it does look quite promising. The DC Avanti will be a low volume sportscar that will eventually be priced around the Rs 30-40 lakh mark and will most probably feature a turbocharged 4-cylinder Ford Ecoboost engine making about 250PS of peak power.
Although we have seen the concept form of the Avanti twice now, the production version is said to be slightly more subdued and more in line with today’s supercar design philosophy. The DC Avanti will be India’s second sportscar, the ill-fated San Storm being the first, and will possibly open up a new avenue for Indian manufacturers to look at a cheap sub 20-lakh rupee sports car for the masses. Expect the DC Avanti to be officially revealed sometime mid-2015.
