Toyota has added a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine to its engine line-up. Known as the 8NR-FTS, this 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine is available as an option on the updated Toyota Auris in the international markets.
Toyota’s new engine uses a single-scroll turbocharger and gets cylinder-heads with integrated water-cooled exhaust manifolds to optimise exhaust temperature. This Toyota claims, allows the engine to be more responsive and deliver maximum torque over a wider RPM range, and deliver 114bhp at 5200-5600RPM and 18.9kgm of torque from 1500-4000rpm.
The 8NR-FTS becomes the second turbo-charged motor in Toyota’s line-up of turbo petrol engines, with the first being the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol which powers the Lexus NX200t.
