Toyota has unveiled its Corolla hybrid at the Shanghai motor show. This is the first time that the Japanese carmaker has showcased a hybrid powertrain on the Corolla outside of Japan.
The hybrid will be produced in China through the FAW-Toyota joint venture with sales expected to start in the second half of 2015.
When compared to the standard car, the Corolla hybrid gets a sharper front styling with projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, a twin-bar chrome grille, a large wraparound airdam, recessed foglamps, alloy wheels and an exclusive blue paint scheme.
No engine details have been revealed yet, but the Corolla hybrid is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine and an electric motor generating about 99bhp.
